Stanley Sun

Dr. Stanley Sun is the founder and CEO of Polar Photovoltaics Co. LTD. Polar PV focuses on the design and fabrication of semiconductor process equipment such as PECVD, PVD, ALD, LPCVD and Diffusion Furnace for high efficiency solar cell production and IC process. Polar PV has provided LPCVD and PVD equipment and processes to numerous cell manufactures in China for GW scale mass production of Topcon solar cells.

Dr. Sun received his B.S. in Vacuum Science and Technology from Hefei University of Technology in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1991.

Dr. Sun was a research fellow at Nanometer Analysis Laboratory at NIH, USA from 1991 to 1994, and a research engineer at Gatan from 1995 to 1996. He joined KLA-Tencor in 1997 and held engineering manager and senior staff system design engineer positions before he founded Polar PV in 2006.  He worked closely with engineering teams of Micron, Intel, IBM, Seagate, DuPont, AMD in US, Sony in Japan, UMC in Taiwan, and Chartered Semiconductors in Singapore for wafer CD measurement and defect review.

Stanley published more than 40 scientific papers and holds 80+ patents. He received 5 awards from Microscopy Society of America and Micro Beam Analysis Society, KLA-Tencor, respectively.
